Re: [APML] Tak Epsilon 160
Mike,
When properly collimated, the Epsilon 160 will give you great images across
the entire 35 mm field.
The thing that I worry about with the STL1100 is the weight of the camera.
[I had the same thoughts regarding the new large format cameras as well] I
hear from SBIG that it is about 5 lbs. That's nearly double what I put
on the E-160 with the ST-2000XM with color filter wheel. The E-160 does
not use the helical focuser that the E-210 and larger Epsilons use. There
certainly is the potential that the weight of the camera will cause
problems with focusing and the image plane. That camera is far too
expensive for me to take a chance with it not working. [I'm waiting for
someone I know to buy one that I can test on the Epsilon.] <g>
I would think that the Epsilon 210 would be a better platform for the
larger CCD camera. The focuser is intended to accommodate medium format
cameras. At 620 mm focal length, the image scale of the E-210 is very
close to that of the E-160.
Just my $0.02 worth.
