Re: [APML] R200SS first light and new website ...
Dear Philippe,
I wish my "first-lights" had been as good as yours! Congratulations on two
_very_ good images!!
You have managed to pick up quite a bit of signal in both images, but I'm
especially impressed by how much blue you've managed to pick up on the M45
shot. As Chris Schur mentioned - E200 isn't actually renowned for it's blue
sensitivity! This indicates that despite the humid air (as indicated by the
amount of frost on your equipment after the session) the sky conditions are
quite good at your imaging location.
The guider (you) also seem to have done an excellent job!!! :-)
I was however expecting to see more diffractions spikes (from the
spider-vanes) on the brighter stars. I have some similar shots (5, 10, 20
and 30 minutes) done using the same OTA, same film and with the same type of
SLR (the only difference is that I have a lot more light-pollution) that
show much more prominent diffractions spikes. This might indicate that your
focus is slightly off! Please contact me off-list if you want to receive any
of the raw scans for comparison!
Best regards,
Arne

Both pictures are manually guided and shot on Kodak E200
