Is your Zenit the older one with the M-42 screw mount for the lenses or
the newer one with the Pentax K bayonet?
You may want to see if you can buy a dead/broken Zenit locally and make
your own knife edge focuser. There are several websites with the details
on how to do this, and the cost can be quite cheap depending on how much
you have to pay for the dead camera body.
