RE: [APML] OT: New Mosaic: The Orion Deepfield
Rob,
the amount of outer nebulosity is striking in this deep image. What was the
field of one subframe? I wonder how many of those knots are named...

Subject: [APML] OT: New Mosaic: The Orion Deepfield
Hi all,
Every once in a while I do an image which takes me to my
physical limits. This is one of them.
http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/Oriondeepfield.html
The completed image incorporated over 20 hours of data and.
is 410 MB.
The background was taken with the FSQ106 and STL11000M
with over 12 hours of h-alpha data. With the 2.7" to 2" adapter
the FSQ106 showed some vignetting with the STL11000 which
easily flatfielded away. The stars at the edge showed no distortion.
Components of the image were done at higher resolution using the
ST10XME and AP155 (F7) and RC (F9).
The mosaic is basically (HA)GB. Processing was done according
to the techniques described on my web site at
http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/HARGB.html
http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/Article3.html
http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/AdvancedMosaics.html
HA data was processed with heavy use of curves and unsharp mask in
16 bit mode. HA was combined with G and B in Maxim and then
adjusted in PS.
Enjoy!
