RE: [APML] A Veil from last year

Hello Loke,
I must say, I found the same issue on a 35mm shot I took through my AP130
EDT last year. I have taken the image off of my website, but I recall
processing the heck out of it thinking that there was a gradient (directly
above my Veil as it was oriented right to left.) I will dig this out again
and possibly rescan since there is absolutely nothing else to do!<g> I
can't believe our weather. Oh well, New Mexico skies in May at least. Keep
us up on any further gradient/non-gradient discoveries.

Chris,

The bottom end of the histogram might have been chopped up a bit. Regarding
the gradient, I noticed this myself. I think you're talking about the darker
region in the upper right hand corner NE (in this reference) of the Witch's
Broom right? When I first took this shot I figured that I had a gradient.
Then in subsequent weeks, I attempted the Veil a further two times. So I
have 3 separate attempts at this object. All 3 attempts had this gradient at
the same location. So I decided to just leave it alone. Interestingly I have
not noticed this with other folks shot of this object. Is it possible that
there is a lower concentration of blue stars in that upper right corner? I
must admit being quite uncertain about this.

Loke
