RE: [APML] 6x7 North American Nebula - From Seattle?
Glen,
This link has the basic imaging processing details - Small Image (details):
http://www.whirlpoolgalaxy.com/ngc7000_p67_intro.html
Equipment:
Pentax 67 II, Takahashi FSQ-106N on G11/Gemini
Exposure Details:
Four exposures on E200 (5min, 10min, 15min, 20min)
5min + 10min, and 15min + 20min exposures sum combined in Registar
The resulting images had levels adjusted in Photoshop and where cropped.
These were then median combined in Registar.
This final image was cropped and levels/curves for each RGB channel adjusted
in Photoshop.
Note:
Based on Matt's suggestions, I am working with a good raw image now that has
RGB channels pretty well balanced and show good healthy unclipped
histograms. Getting better color is easier now, but I am still struggling
with getting the image/background flat. I have tried a couple of techniques,
but haven't found anything that works really well. For the image that is
currently posted, I used Maxim to flatten and remove gradients in addition
to using the dodge tool in Photoshop for touch up. I have also tried
creating an adjustment layer, but I never seem to be able to get good
results this way.
