[APML] PWPro 3.1 alignment methods

I'd like to start with the best possible procedure and practice it
until it's second nature. So I'd like to get some advice on alignment
methods.

It is possible to refine the alignment by modifying the calculations
used. There is a choice of the following methods: Shepard, Hardy, Thin
Plate, Gaussian. Is there much difference between these options?

Under search radius, there are options for: 6, 2, and 1 pixel search
radius. Should I start with 6, and work down to 1? If I stay with a 6,
will that be as close as the alignment can get?

Any other advice in this vein is welcome as I will working with this
area alone until I'm comfortable with it.
