I think we're missing something here. Star
size is a result of more than just the detector, film or ccd. It's also
dependant upon factors such as seeing, focal length and collimation of the
instrument and transparency. Now if you are going to measure this by the
smallest size stars recorded, you can look at the detector, 24 micron pixels
would give square stars at the minimum 24 microns, while film has a chance of
recording 10 micron stars if conditions allow. Yes I know there are chips
with smaller pixels. For this comparison, my point is that Bobby's shot
may indeed have higher "real" resolution based on his conditions.
Just my personal view of the whole
comparison.
