RE: [APML] OT SS4000 troubles
Perhaps it needs an old ddl. The newer machines have a newer ddl?

I'm sorry to hear about this. I never had any trouble with my SS4000 on
Win2K, and I was using an Adaptec SCSI card (same as your friend's
card). Since it happens on more than one machine and with different
SCSI cards, it sounds like a problem with the scanner or the scanner
software. But, then it works OK on the older machine...
A couple things you might look for:
1) Make sure the SCSI device(s) are terminated correctly - the last one
in the chain must be terminated. You probably already know this.
2) Double check the Polaroid web site to make sure you have the latest
Polacolor version. You probably already did this.
3) I'm not sure if it uses much RAM when it's storing a scan to your
hard drive, but you might check your virtual memory sizing under
Settings/Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance Options. It can't
hurt to double, triple, or quadruple this value and see what happens.
4) If you can, make sure to try the SCSI cable from the machine that it
works fine with. If you have another cable that fits, try swapping
cables and see if that works.
Good luck,
Sincerely,
Jon Kolb
