Chris,
The flare *is* in all color channels. It's just more dominant in the blue,
with the exception of the bright orange star to the right in your IC443/444
image.
If the miscollimation is the culperate, I would think that it wouln't be as
noticeable visually as the photos would lead one to think, as it only
records well on the brighter stars in the field in your longer exposures. It
doesn't show up in your 25 minute Double Cluster shot.
