Hi Michael.. a couple of years ago we had a thread on an IC443 image that I
took, I stacked 6 images.. the conclusion from the discussion was that you don't
gain anything by doing a blend-add stack, just blend all the images and then
process (mostly curves).. you achieve the same results but with much less work
and confusion.
We do stacking to reduce grain, not to improve other aspects of the image. I was
convinced and now all I do is "blend" followed by fancy curves adjustments.. if
you are interested I can repost some of those messages. Some of you image
processing gurus, please jump and explain this better than I can.
BTW, congratulations on finally catching some photons!..
