I had this happen long ago when I tried Ektapress 1600. M42 was red in
a 5 minute exposure but when I exposed it for 30 minutes it was completely
green. I assumed that there was total reciprocity failure of the red
recording layer in 30 minutes while the green kept on going.

That may or may not be so in your case. It could be that the red recording
layer has no sensitivity at 656nm but records red stars fine at a slightly
shorter wavelength.
