Re: [APML] Tech Pan Development question

Hi Jim:
Most of your questions have been answered already by more experienced people, but for splitting the developer salts, I have found that for a single 35 mm roll in a standard 35 mm tank, 300 mL (10 oz) nicely covers the reel and film. Calculating the amount of D-19 developer salts, the amount needed for 300 mL is forty-seven (47) grams. I got a cheap digital postal scale at Office Depot that reads to the nearest 5 grams and that works fine for weighing out the salts. (And don't even think about opening the tank till the film has been in fixer for several minutes!)

Subject: [APML] Tech Pan Development question

After sifting through the archives and reading about 2415 development I have 2 questions about it.
I noticed that some people are not mixing the whole gallon at once to avoid having to throw it away. How many oz of distilled water should I use to develop one roll of 35mm? Is the level of development solution in the tank supposeto be above the top of the reel?
And at what point in the process is it ok to expose the film to light? After the fixer?

Thanks for the help!
