[APML] M42- First CCD shot Tips needed

Hello,

I've lurked for awhile (nearly a year now) only taking fixed tripod shots
of constellations and such, but now finally have access to some equipment
for some time, and am looking for any helpful advice.

I have an image of M42 at

(note there is no www)

Any advice would be appreciated.  Also, what are -your- favorite targets,
so I have some ideas of what to shoot?  I've had trouble deciding lately.
