Chuck,
I'm in favor of a change in the official policy. I think CCD related posts should be permitted, as long they also relate to film in a substantive way. I think CCDers on the APML should strive to present suggestions for how to adapt their methods/tools to film. The film folks have little use for CCD info unless it benefits film based imaging, or helps us understand film better. There is a lot of common ground.
