I would like to express my thanks to those that called or wrote Kodak directly about the future of TP. Your work is deeply appreciated.
I'd also like to thank the list in general for the discussion of film vs. CCD. As I said before, I enjoyed it and learned from it. But more importantly, I note that the discussion this time was much more constructive and illuminating than -- what's the right word? -- defensive?
At the moment I'm a film photographer for various reasons of my own based on budget, challenge, and the "look and feel" of the images, even though CCD's have much higher (10X) detector efficiency. What I really want to try is the AP16 on a well-corrected 18" telescope. (big grin) Even so, I doubt that I would give up TechPan entirely. And yes, Tom, I'm ultimately interested in doing some interesting science (on a small scale) with the 18" + CCD combination.
