Re: [APML] Why this discussion?? WAS The End of Tech Pan???

First, to those who have voiced support for my participation on
APML I want to say "thank you". The reason I joined APML
is because I consider myself a student of astroimaging. What better
place to go than a mailing list where you can exchange ideas and images
with some of the greatest and most experienced astroimagers
in the world.

When I first joined APML I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't know
if I had much to offer or if I would benefit in any way.
I knew some of the members (Tony, Mike, Sean,) off the list and they have
been of tremendous help to me with their valued critiques. I can now say
that my decision to join has helped me make very substantial improvements in
my image processing techniques. Although I have sometimes been
overenthusiastic about CCD I want to say this; I have the utmost respect
for the fine film imagers on the list and have really enjoyed all their
images.
I have great repect for all astroimagers since this is a labor of love and I
am
well aware of all the hard work and frustration that goes into this
demanding hobby.
I have gained a whole new perspective and appreciation for astroimaging and
astroimage
processing techniques by becoming a member of APML.

To answer Howards question, yes I did join for selfish reasons but not the
reasons he stated.
I have tried to reciprocate but admittedly I am ignorant about film
astrophotography and
the associated techniques. I will try to share whatever techniques I have
which may be
of value to all of us. My last comment is that CCD and film imagers have
alot more in
common than they have differences. We all share the exhilaration of
recording the beauty
of the night sky. The way we record that beauty doesn't really matter.
