[APML] Something different (than death of Tech Pan)
Oh my,
Did I help launch that killer string from hell? Kent and I will have to go
incognito at the next star party. <G>
Here is something different. I have been building some new telescope mounts
(piers) and a latitude wedge for use with my Schmidt camera. One pier is
for home and the other is for out at my observatory. They were built with
stuff I scrounged out of the scrap metal pile where I work, so the cost of
building them both was zilch. The paint was the most expensive part.
Can you engineer types go to www.robertreeves.com/mount2.htm and look at
what I have done. I am no mechanical engineer, but I am quite happy with
results I have achieved. I still consider the two mounts to be a work in
progress. What I would like is some comments about how to improve these or
changes to incorporate if I make another mount of similar design.
I have been using the shorter one here at home with my C-8 while I do lunar
shots with my new digital camera and that puppy is like a rock. Being able
to roll it onto the garage instead of picking it up entirely like I had to
do with the tripod is real nice.
Let me know what y'all think.
