Antwort: Re: [APML] Tech Pan - the facts??? [Virus checked]
Hi Michael,
While I am not aware of any CCD's for amateur schmidt cameras, I thought that
the Palomar Schmidt is set up to image with CCD's.
See:http://impact.arc.nasa.gov/news/2000/August/1.html where they said --
"... whereas the Palomar Schmidt will utilize an array of three 4Kx4K CCDs for a
field of view of 3.9 sq. degrees."
I know a fellow who has been using a Celestron 8-inch Schmidt camera with a CCD
for several years. He lives in a light polluted area and previously used Tech
Pan, but switched to a CCD for his imaging tasks because of light pollution. I
don't think he gets the same field coverage as he would with film, but the
system does seem to satisfy his needs. He has discovered and studied several
novas with this setup.
Who is this guy, does he have a website or email ?
