If you take out the comparative costs of a mount, OTA and Photoshop (because
they are a wash) and a Desktop PC (with Win95 at least to run Photoshop 5.5
or better)
I see the price list as thus: 
ST-7 $1750 (assuming prices come down from the $2000 average right now)
Laptop $300
TOTAL: $2050

35mm Body $150
Lumicon 300 Hypering Kit $150 (or just pay for hypered film)
Darkroom $50 (or have a pro lab process it)
OAG $100
ST-4 $400
Slide Scanner $350
TOTAL: $1200  (or $1000 if you skip the hypering kit and darkroom)

Additionally--and not to be considered a knock against SBIG--the ST-7 is
only 765x510 pixels.  That's only 12x8 arcminutes on my C8 @ f/10.  Not very
much coverage compared to 35mm (about 40x60 arcminutes).
