Try VNC...it is reliable, small footprint, multi-platform (Linux and 
Unix as well as Windows, and free.

I find much better performance than PcAnywhere.

Anyone who is remotly controling their observatory PC on another
PC... What software do you use for remote control. I downloaded some
freeware (I think is's called Remote Control) and it works ok, except
for DOS shells (ie CCDOPS). PCAnywhere is way to expensive (>
$500.). What are your suggestions?
