I seem to have managed to get along for 25-odd years before forgetting the
"biggie". It was about six months ago. Up to that time, I had been hauling
as many construction tools as telescope parts every time I headed to my
observatory. Now I didn't have the extra load of tools and was marveling at
how much extra room I had in my ford Bronco. It wasn't until I was onsite
that I realized part of the extra room was from no tripple-decker blue box
that has goodies like all eyepieces, diagonals, all bolts and screws, drive
corrector, counterweights, etc... So I shifted gears and did much meteor
photography, star trails, and 30 second constellation shots for my astronomy
classes. Got some great shots, especially of the setting crescent moon in
twilight.
Rain last night, cloudy, windy and dark all day. I go out to the garage
awhile ago and.... beatifully clear. Nuts! Shift grears again and do 150
digital shots of Jupiter and prepare for lunar work before sunrise. The
Olympus 3.3 Mpixel camera we got for Christmas has turned me full circle and
I'm having a blast with the moon again.
