I also do the cases bit.  I have things segregated into my cases.  One for
observing tools, one for astrophotography tools, one for maps and charts,
etc.  There are also clothing cases for star parties.  A foot locker for
daily cloths and a large Rubbermaid tub for cold weather stuff.  I learned
this from Jason Ware who packs a 16"LX200, 6" f/9 refractor, all the
astronomy and astrophotography stuff, and camping equipment into a ford
explorer.  Would you believe that.
