George, hello! I bought the Lowe's case 1-1/2 yrs ago & another, not as well
made, from WalMart last fall with no outgassing problems. I had the same
questions as you & as a precaution took the foam out for 48 hours then cut
it & inserted it in the case with no problems whatsoever. Hope this helps.
