Go to http://www.robertreeves.com/filmtest.htm to see how I did it for my
book "Wide-Field Astrophotography". Its simple to do once the test rig is
built, but it does take a while to cycle through the test exposures. I
don't advertise this as a laboratory accurate method, but it will give an
idea of which film to try under the stars and which film to forget about.
BTW, if you follow the links further to the actual tests I did, beware
because a lot of those films don't exist anymore or have been reformulated
into astronomical uselessness. I will not retest newer films until I
prepare the next printing of the book.
