[APML] New mosaic images and E200 sensitivity
Hi all,
I put a few new images on my web site, including a 4-frame mosaic of the
California Nebula and a 2-frame mosaic of IC 1805/48 and the double
cluster. They were part of an experiment to get medium format coverage
with 35 mm film (you might call it 'poor man's medium format photography
<g>'). Uneven background is still a problem I am struggling with, but the
much reduced graininess (compared to a single image taken on 35 mm film
with a shorter focal length) seems to make it worth pursuing this
technique further.
The California Nebula images were my first exposures on Kodak E200 slide
film. Contrast and blue sensitivity appear to be good, but its overall
sensitivity is distinctly lower than that of PJ-400. The images (45 min
exposures at f/4) were so dark that scanning in a Polaroid Sprintscan 35+
produced some clearly visible banding artifacts. Is E200 really slower
than PJ-400 or could there be a difference between E200 sold in the U.S.
and in Europe?
Clear skies,
Axel
