I used my C11/CG11 the first time during the eclipse. It ran wonderfully,
until
about 10 min or so into totality. The temp was 20 below zero, so I'm sure that
had something to do with it, but what happened is this.

The hand paddle has an led which is normally on, that went off, however the
rest of the lights on the paddle remained on. The drive quit running in RA,
and
the hand paddle had no effect. I removed the cover to both the panel and hand
controler at about 3 a.m. after waiting for it to warm back up. I was looking
for a fuse, but couldn't find one.

If anyone has any idea of where to start, hoping it's a simple thing, I'd
appreciate any ideas. Other than that, since this is about a year or so old
mount, and is made by Losmandy for Celestron, who would be the best to contact
on the problem?

Any help would be great! I seem to have this happen on everything I get. I got
a new ST4 this week, and it just buzzed and blinked junk at me. I removed the
cover and main circuit board, and sure enough a nut had come loose in shipping
and was shorting on the back of the board. It seems to work fine now but
haven't been able to test anything but going through the menus in the house.

Keep lookin up!

Hi Scott:
I'm the person who put you onto the ST-4 Great Price at Astronomics.
Concerning the G-11, (which I also have):
You can ALWAYS call Scott Losmandy with any questions or problems with his
products. He is great about replacing or fixing anything reasonable.
I can't exactly tell you what the problem is but you should check all the
obvious possibilites:
1. Power supply? Connections? Battery (extreme cold can cause problems)?
Does the mount still exhibit the problems when inside and it's daylight?
2. Check the cords and connectors that got from the "control panel" to the RA
& DEC motors. If the pins in the connectors get bent, they can't make contact.
The small wires in the coiled cords can break or come out of the plastic
connectors, creating problems.

If all of the above seem OK, I'd call Scott and explain the symptoms to him.
Good Luck,
Kent Kirkley
