Re: [APML] Off Axis Guiders For Refractors???

Hi Kent,

I asked this same question last month. I got a few responses and was
encouraged to try to use one. I purchased a Taurus Tracker III just before
Christmas. I am in Michigan - under the grey rock of winter, but I did try
the combination out on New Years Eve. I have a 4" f6 refractor built from
one of those BK Optik kits and I am using a G11 mount. I am very happy with
the results so far. I have only had the one night to use it so far but
every shot was well guided without the flexure that I have been fighting.
I am going to Tucson next week and I plan to give it a good workout for 10
days or so. I was able to get very good tracking, the ST4 seemed to like it
and I found the system simple to use.

I do not have a field flattener with this scope so I don't have any
experience with that yet. I plan on trying a 1.4X and 2X teleextender for
my camera with the scope and the guider. This will give me some feel for
how flexable the system will be with higher magnification.

I will post my experiences, good and/or bad, after I return from Tucson.

Clay
