How wide do you want?<g>. At 50mm, the Nikon f/1.4 is good but shoot it at
f/2.8.
I also use a Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 zoom and it's ok but I would bet the 180mm
f/2.8
is better. The're going to meet your budget at $600 on the used market. I
remember
some old posts about a Nikon 105mm that was supposed to be really sharp but
I can't
remember the specifics. Some generic longer lenses can be ok like my Sigma
400mm
f/5.6 but you get lower speed for lower $$. Really good longer lenses cost
more than
a good telescope. All I can tell you about <35mm is don't try a Sigma f/2.8
24mm!
BTW, can someone recommend the Nikon 24mm f/2.8?
