I have used a GM8 with a C8, the GM8 will do fine since you will be using a
permanent pier, the original folding tripod can be a bit flimsy with a long
focal length instrument like a C8. You can purchase the GM8 head by itself,
without the tripod. The C8 is a light instrument, but forget about using a
guidescope..
