When these questions come up it is a good idea to look around for other images
that would likely show the same thing. Here are three white light images of IC1396

I can't detect the blue blotches in any of them. You may have run into some
kind of reflection/refraction problem. All it takes is one star in just the
wrong place. It's not always easy to analyze what happened. It's good to be
skeptical because it's unusual for any of us to record something that no one
else has when most of our photos are looking at the same part of the spectrum.
