     I did quite a bit of barndoor astrophotography last
year. Some of the pictures are posted at

     Using a 180mm EDIF Nikon lens, the longest exposure
picture before noticable trailing was 20 to 30 minutes.
Periodic error was also a factor which made the stars a bit 
bloated.
