Re: [APML]: Astrophysics 900 Mount

Hi Mike Mayerchak:
As you know I have both a C-14 and an Astrophysics 900 mount. You
can take astrophotos with this setup, but I would not recommend it. If
there is any significant wind like you often get at First Chance you
would probably get unacceptable high guiding errors with this set up.
In calm weather you will get good guiding. I actually compared the ST-4
guiding numbers with a C-14 on my mount and Bob Fera's AP 1200 mount.
Under non-windy conditions the AP 1200 mount gave numbers of one (1)
less than the AP 900 mount (not significant). Both were acceptable (3-5
range). I would recommend the AP 1200 for use with the C-14 unless,
like me, you wanted to use it outside of the country where air travel
was used.
