I haven't heard that.... but that does not mean it isn't true either.

A substitute for color film is a light yellow 2B or 2E filter while B&W can
use a deeper yellow #8, 12, or 15 filter.

Just make sure the transmission is high.  Some yellow filters pass on about
30% of the wavelengths they do pass.  I used to use a #48 yellow and was
unhappy with the results.  Then I checked the transmission and found that
was probably the worst yellow filter I could have chosen.
