  I have a Microtek flatbed scanner with a transparency adapter. A 4x5
negative gives a pretty good result, a 120 fair and 35mm poor. It is about
the same as scanning a print of the same size. The flatbed scanner is only
600 dpi. most 35mm negative scanners scan at 2400 dpi or better.
