[APML]: Re: OAG & Illuminated Reticle Causing Reflection
Steve:
One final correction and then I think I'll have it right (obviously
I don't have enough to do an a Sunday afternoon). I just noticed that
the tube that I described as being knurled (the one on the right, or
camera end) of the OAG structure is not the one that came with the
Meade OAG. It came with an ETX scope camera adapter. I dug out the tube
that *did* come with the OAG and it is smooth except for the ridged
ring at the end that carries an eyepiece adapter. THat ring has two
thumb screws for fastening an eyepiece (or a CCD camera with an
eyepiece adapter on it). The ring can be unscrewed from the rest of
the tube, leaving just the tube--female t-thread at one end for the
OAG cube and male t-thread at the other end for a standard camera
adapter or the aforementioned eyepiece adapter. I sure hope I haven't
confused matters too much--having a lot of these rings and adapters
lying around makes it easy to get things mixed up.
Shouldn't make any difference to the basic argument of the previous
message though--if your camera sees the eyepiece reticle, either the
prism is turned around in the OAG housing, or the optical path is
reversed.
Good luck & clear skies!
