Re: [APML] Film is not dead
Hi,
I have my personal story about film images sent to S&T. I don't know
if S&T editors read APML or not, so I didn't want to tell this here. However,
since people already complained enough and mentioned some names,
here we go.
I sent my Cygnus mosaic to S&T about 1.5 year ago. The picture was
printed nicely on a 12x18 photo paper by Fuji Pictrography 4000 lightjet
printer. Two weeks after the picture was sent, I emailed S&T and ask how
they think about the picture. At that time, I was open to any possible
(positive or negative) feedbacks. It turned out, the editor told me that she
never saw such an image submitted to S&T. Obviously, the picture went
to some recycle bin somewhere. She was very polite and she asked me to
send it again. But I just don't feel like to do so any more.
Instead, I sent this
image to the Japanese magazine Temmon Guide (means astronomy guide).
A month later, my picture showed up in the Japanese magazine. They
printed it on two full pages and gave me very kind comments. Their printing
quality is also much better, more like the National Geography quality here
instead of S&T quality.
After this lesson, I sent all my new pictures to Japanese magazines instead
of S&T. Probably I should give Astronomy a try?
