You should send the image to Art at Land, Sea and Sky in Houston and get his thoughts...he's the Tak expert.

Jim, et al,

That's definitely a bummer.  You would think that such an expensive
piece of equipment wouldn't have such an elementary mistake in
design.  It's not surprising that it hasn't been fixed since
Japanese companies (i.e. Canon, Sony, etc.) have a difficult time
admitting they've made a mistake in their design or product.

I guess I'll have to avoid bright stars.
