Re: [APML] Astronomical Databases
Robert,
There are quite a number of catalogs out there, but a great place to
start is with the Strasbourg Astronomical Data Center at
http://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/
They have a large number of catalogs online. Click on the "catalogues"
link to get to the "Astronomer's Bazaar", where you'll find:
# 5797 Catalogues available from CDS ...
# ... of which 4834 are available on-line (as full ASCII or FITS files)
# ... of which 4466 are also available through the VizieR browser.
Which should keep you busy for a while.
If you're interested in galaxy research at multiple wavelengths, and
who isn't?!?, the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database, or NED, is probably
the definitive resource. It's at http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/
Hope this helps!
