I believe the big problem is no one is sure if there is a ringmaster still maintaining the ring, or who it is.  Does anyone know who mike@rphotoz.com is or how to contact him?

the way I see it, large parts of the ring are intact. It just seems
necessary to check all the links and update the list. Some people don't
have the webring on their index page, which is annoying - I for my part
have it on the English index page while the link leads to the main page
(with language selector) - that would have to be changed, too.

But I would say we should try to salvage the ring, if the ringmaster is
willing.
