No, Intes is still alive, I'm sure about this. Perhaps it changes owner, but still produce telescopes.. You can see at this page (sorry, it is in Italian) a recent visit of the italian distributor to the factory (ya, those pics scare compared to Meade factrory or so on..). http://www.ildiaframma.it/factory.htm
 
I'm quite confident that it is a bargain to purchase a mak Newton in Russia instead of in Italy..For sure there is custom, but its final price is free from shipping and distributor quote (here in Italy for some reason they are quite closefisted.. They can rise price of more than 80%... I let you think that from the ufficial distributor a Meade lx200 GPS costs 3600 Euro, that are more or less 4700 U.S.$!)

    Is not Intes out of business? I heard they were. I really doubt you would be able to make better deals over there, then you have the hassle of customs.
