RE: [APML] Comet Machholz in Cassiopeia

Gary,

Do you recall the settings you used for USM in PS? What was the size of the image when you applied your USM? Thanks.

Hi Michael,
I contacted Joe off-list about this but FYI, that night I had very clear, transparent skies with just a very small amount of unsteadiness with a limiting mag. of about 6.  The temp. started in the 40s and got down to the 30s with only a very slight, negligible breeze.  The humidity was about 50%.  As I told Joe, I think the sky conditions and the fact I pushed 400F 1 stop and he didn't probably were the contributing factors to the difference in our images.

As per another post (in another thread?) and out of curiosity it would
be interesting to know the sky conditions, temperature, and humidity, of
both pictures, Joe and Gary.

Gary, you have a great image of  Machholz. I used the same camera, lens,
film and exposure as you. Yet your image looks so much better. I was
wondering if you think pushing Provia 400F makes the image better or is it
your processing? Or both? :)
Nice work!

    Hello,
Here's my first finished image from Fri. night.  I'm not totally
happy with it but it will have to do for now.
