Re: [APML] Slide and Negative differences
Hi, Micheal,
Alan started me mounting my AP negatives in slide holders for scanning.
Works great. Like Rodney, I simply use a pair of scissors to cut the film. I
second his comment about using white cotton gloves. I bought both the slide
mounts and the gloves at my (semi-) local pro lab. Several years ago,
someone here on APML put me on to Pakon slide mounts which everyone seemed
to think were the best. I use them and they really are excellent compared to
the brands I used previously. The only caveat is that it takes some care to
get the frame into the mount without scratching it. I use a very high tech
piece of ancillary equipment to help me do this: a toothpick. Well,
actually, two of them. I flex the slide mount to open it, then place one
toothpick in each corner to hold the mount open while I carefully slide the
frame in place between the toothpicks (wearing the white cotton gloves, of
course). Works great and is really quite easy.
Good luck!
