RE: [APML] OT: Mars Images
I just finished putting together procedures for making side-by-side 3D
images, for those who can look at them cross-eyed and get the overlap to
fuse. I'll be posting it under http://home.xnet.com/~klappal in a few
minutes.

Subject: [APML] OT: Mars Images
List,
It was suggested to me privately that more people might be interested
in these images than I thought. So I'm making a few of the best ones
available. If you don't want to see this these on the list then let me
know and I won't post any more. None of these images have been released
by JPL (except my test image).
Anaglyph: Outcrop Detail at Opportunity Site
http://www.goldrush.com/~aa6g/Images/outcrop_pan_ana.jpg (650KB)
Anaglyph: Panoramic View of Bonneville Crater Rim to which Spirit is
Heading
http://www.goldrush.com/~aa6g/Images/sol52_pan_ana.jpg (1.15MB)
FYI - There are least a thousand stereo pairs up on the JPL site that
could be put together. Some are close-up mosaics that require complex
distortion to assemble them and I have no software to perform that.
Color Calibration Test Image
http://www.aa6g.org/Images/sol40_cal_image.jpg (350KB)
I put this up here to show why the way I adjusted the images don't look
like JPL's. I don't understand what they're doing. JPL says the color
target has the correct colors. If so, why don't they adjust their
images to match the soil in the background?
Six Frame Color Image of Martian Landscape from Spirit
http://www.aa6g.org/Images/sol40_pan.jpg (620KB)
This is the largest "true color" image set that I've found so far.
Enjoy,
Chuck <aa6g@aa6g.org>
