You might want to look at the Epson 4870 with similar specs.  I've got the
older 2450 that I'm quite happy with.

Has anyone tried this for negatives? Supposed to have 48 bit 4800 dpi
negative scanning ability with a transporter. I also can't find out what the
transporter (film holder) looks like. Plastic? Metal? Glass?
My Sprintscan 4000 is the scsi (no USB) version and I would like to get rid
of my scsi card and also get something that is more compatible with Windows
XP Pro. The Sprintscan is getting obsolete.
