I estimated the weight difference to be a bit more as the DSBS plate
alone weighs 7-8 pounds, maybe you're thinking of a setup where that
won't be used. Good idea.8-) 

A thought: seeing as you're contemplating manual guiding (you have my
deepest sympathies), I think that the less weight you have, the easier
you job will be.

Another thought: consider the Taurus Tracker. I was finally able to
talk to someone who has used both, and he thought the Taurus won the
battle hands down.
