RE: [APML] Orion Nebula & Pleiades

Thanks Chris, Larry and others for all the great feedback! Some really good information is coming out of it that is going to help me on my future shots. APML is so cool. =)

Steve: One great thing about Indian Wells Valley is that when it's not windy it's great at my site. When it starts warming up in the spring and gets into the windy season and my site here in the Valley turns to junk, there are still tons of awesome dark sky sights at 6000 ft or higher up in the Sierra Mtns within easy driving distance.

Stuart - I really think I got a steal when I bought this LX90. It has proven to be a much more capable telescope than what it was advertised or even what I first used it as. I think about a "dream astrophotography setup" from time-to-time like I'm sure everybody else does, but the truth is this scope is going to serve me quite well for a long time to come.

Jason, Those are really neat film images, your colors are very true to what
Ive got in the past, and yes I like the Pleiades shot as well. Great
Effort!

Hello List,

I finally got a shot that I really like. Not being very deep, it's probably
old hat to most of you folks, but if you knew my equipment and the
conditions it was shot under, you'd likely consider it a miracle.

I also had a pic of the Pleiades come out of this roll. Even though the
framing is off, I like the diffraction pattern formed around the bright
stars by my SCT. This shot was a miracle....windy with gusts up to 20 mph.
Seems like I was in a little pocket of (relatively) calm air, so I don't
think I got the worst of the wind that night. I could hear it screaming
through the mountain pass ~1/4 mile away. I stood in front of the scope
acting as a wind break while my fiance sat inside the car watching a DVD.
:) Temperature was about 20F.

Comments and/or feedback is welcome as always!
