I think it may be partly spam and virus traffic overloading parts of the
network. I've gotten up to 100+ spams and/or infecteds per valid email for
the past few days. Thank goodness the filters are working!
The gov passed the telemarketing act and my phone garbage went to nearly
zero; then they passed the spam bill and the spam has doubled nearly every
week since. So much for enforcement ...
