Hi Loren,
Its pot metal...very porous...lottsa bubbles.
I remember working as an inspector at a die casting company and doing
porosity checks to make sure there werent any bubbles or at leaste try to
get the leaste amount for Ford manifolds and such.
So having that knowledge behind me, it was the first thing I looked for in
the threads when I first bought it.
I can imagine if I cut through it, I would be even more disapointed.
Whoever set the standards on these mounts did not care very much what went
through as far as being porous.
Ill take a pic tomorrow of it and post it on the page....my quick cam doesnt
give the greatest resolution in this artificial light for some reason.
Im also going to contact Orion and see if I can get a spare.
