I agree. I think a wavelet decomposition is of limited usage for this 
image. In your image, there are numerous stellar images which are so small 
(high frequency features) that they can be easily taken as noise in a 
hierarchical wavelet analysis.

However, I'm very interested in your results because we are working on a 
wavelets algorithm to be part of the next version of SGBNR. Keep us informed.
